On 28th June I added a Smart Research C2 Compressor to my analogue chain.
The Smart Research C2 is based on the infamous SSL Buss Compressor which is known for it's punch and ability to provide a nice glue to any music that passes through it. The signal path is very clean making it suitable for mastering applications.
This is the first dual mono device which I have added to my chain. This opens up the possibility of working in Mid/Side should any project require it.
These are my Smart Research Sidechain High Pass Filter cables. With these cables connected and the external side chain switched in the C2's detection circuit will be fed a signal containing less low frequencies due to the 150Hz -6dB/octave High Pass filter. This reduces the sensitivity to low frequency compression.
The cables essentially give me a 150HPF at the press of a button which make the C2 more flexible. I think the sidechain will be switched in for most mastering duties. Smart Research C2 Analogue Compressor (Alan Smart C2)
